Ever since Helen Keller addressed the Lions Club at our 1925 International Conference in the United States and challenged us to become "Knights of the Blind," vision preservation and accommodations for those with vision problems have been a main focus of Lions Clubs throughout the world..
Due to the kindness of a very generous local benefactor, the Oakland Lions Club renewed our Annual Children's Eye Screening Program with our new PediaVision SPOT camera on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Atwood Primary School during Kindergarten Registration, and it was a big hit! We tested a total of 38 children – 33 were found to be “In Range” for all indicators (no concerns), and 5 were “Out of Range” for one or more indicators, and a “Complete Eye Exam” with their doctor was recommended. We had a great day – we had fun, we helped others, and we met a lot of nice people! And our Eye Screening Program for young children is now a key ongoing program again!
We have lots of fun while we help a lot of people - won't you join us in some of the following activities and programs?
