Empty Bowl Project to Benefit Local Food Pantries - March 9th, Messalonskee High School - From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Please mark your calendar to attend this year’s Empty Bowl Project to enjoy great camaraderie along with a simple, but delicious, meal of soup, salad, bread, and dessert. All proceeds will be divided among the food pantries in Oakland, Belgrade, Sidney and Rome.  (A small portion will be withheld to support next year’s event.)

The cost is $10 for adults, $7.50 for children and seniors, and children under 6 are free.  In exchange for the donation guests are invited to keep the handmade pottery bowl as a symbol of the event as well as the need present in our community.  To pre-buy a ticket, call Cheryl at 649-4811, or email her at bcandme3@myfairpoint.net.  Please let Cheryl or Wendy know if you can donate soup, tossed salad, or a dessert. Wendy Burton’s email address is wburton@rsu18.org.

Empty Bowls Project is a grassroots effort to raise awareness of food insecurity in our communities.   The Messalonskee School Community and some local celebrities, under the guidance of art teacher Wendy Burton, will be crafting ceramic bowls.  A school play will be held just down the call in the auditorium directly after the dinner.

Members of the Oakland Lions Club will be assisting the students and faculty with serving and cleanup again this year.
